Swartberg Mountain Range
There are several passes through the Swartberg Range, the most famous of which is possibly the Swartberg Pass that runs between Oudtshoorn in the south and Prince Albert in the north. The pass is not tarred and can be a little treacherous after rain, but offers spectacular views over the Little Karoo and the Great Karoo to the north.
Much of the Swartberg is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Cango Caves
29km from Oudtshoorn, at the head of the picturesque Cango Valley, lies the spectacular underground wonder of the Klein Karoo – the Cango Caves. Situated in a limestone ridge parallel to the well known Swartberg Mountains, you will find the finest dripstone caverns, with their vast halls and towering formations.
Cango Wildlife Ranch
Visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch and Valley of Ancients, endangered species breeding facility extraordinaire. The oldest and biggest cheetah contact centre worldwide offers visitors the rare opportunity of interacting with our hand reared cheetahs and getting actively involved in saving this species and others from extinction.
Karusa Vineyards
Karusa Vineyards is the first and only winery on the Cango Route and situated only 700 meters from Die Fonteine. Karusa is a specialist producer of Methode Champenoise and Mediterranean styled wines. Enjoy a visit and tasting at the winery and also the light lunches served in a Karoo Tapas style with an ice cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc!

Rus en Vrede Waterfall
Isolated beauty, engraved into the heart of the Swartberg Mountain by natures powerful forces. Rust-en-Vrede is situated on a scenic detour branching off the R328, 18km from Oudtshoorn on the way to the world famous Cango Caves. No title could be more apt, for this is definitely a must see for anyone traveling to Oudtshoorn.
The waterfall is hidden among the bracken-clad heights; therefore a walk over little bridges is required along the mountain trail. You are inspired by the beautiful wild flowers that bloom in great profusion alongside the path while far below amidst ferns and undergrowth, a powerful river ripples over rocky edges.
